Dentistry for Kids

Good (and bad) dental habits begin during childhood, so now is the time to get your child started out on the right path toward a lifetime of healthy smiles. We go the extra mile to ensure infants, children, adolescents, and their parents, have a positive experience at our office. Our team is specially trained to help your child feel at ease. We will walk your child through the exam process and can even perform it on mom or dad first!

Visiting the Dentist as a Child

We know going to the dentist can be a bit scary sometimes, for both adults and children alike! For younger children especially, all the tools and gadgets we use can be intimidating, but we want you to know, we are only here to help. Our staff will take extra care to make sure your child’s visit is as stress free and enjoyable as possible, our staff will be happy to take special care. We’d love to have you, the parents, in the exam room with us. We’ll explain all procedures in a non-intimidating way, and even perform them on you first if that’s what makes your child feel safe.

A Positive Experience

Having kids around the office is a sure way to make us smile, and we want them to leave the office at ease, with a genuine smile of their own.

We offer a kids room not only as childcare during the parents' appointment, but also to ease the nerves of the children before their dentist appointment.  The kids' playroom is a way to show the children that Overman Family Dentistry is a welcoming, caring, and fun environment.

There are televisions located in each of our exam rooms. This is another way we are able to keep your child’s mind off of any of the stressful procedures they might be visiting us for. Television serves as a great distraction, as your child can watch whatever
they feel like.

Nitrous Gas, also known as Laughing Gas, is one way we can put your child at ease.  This is simply for the purpose of relaxation, and as you breathe in this colorless, odorless gas, you will begin to feel very calm. Any pain you might normally feel during a procedure will diminish. It is not uncommon to get a case of the giggles and feel slightly light headed. Nitrous keeps you very calm during stress inducing and painful procedures – some may even find the experience enjoyable.

If you have any questions about our pediatric dentistry process, or would like to schedule an appointment for your child, please give us a call. We would be happy to provide you with more details.
